Australia PR Points Calculation
The Australia Skilled Migration visa is based on a points-based system known as the Points Test. This system assigns points for various criteria such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other factors. The total number of points you score will determine your eligibility for the visa.
To be eligible for the Skilled Migration visa, you must score at least 65 points on the Points Test. The points are awarded as follows:
Age: You can score up to 25 points based on your age.
The maximum points are awarded to applicants who are between 25 and 32 years of age.
Education: You can score up to 20 points based on your highest level of education and the number of years of study required to complete it.
English language proficiency: You can score up to 20 points based on your English language test results. The highest score is awarded for those who score at least 8 in each of the four components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or if you can get a 79 in score in Pearson Test of English (PTE)
Work experience: You can score up to 20 points based on the number of years of work experience you have in your nominated occupation. The maximum points are awarded for those with at least 8 years of experience. Skilled employment in Australia: You can score up to 10 points for having worked in your nominated occupation for at least 12 months in the past 2 years.
Australian study requirement: You can score 5 points for having completed a minimum of 1 academic year of study in a specified field in Australia.
Professional year in Australia: You can score 5 points for having completed a professional year in Australia in the past 4 years.
Please note that these points are subject to change and the Australian government may adjust the criteria and the number of points awarded for each factor at any time. It’s important to check the latest information on the Department of Home Affairs website.
